Director - Barclays

I joined Barclays Bank in October 1985 , after various banking roles I finally worked in Business Banking where I have worked for over 10 years , I have been in my current role for 4 years.

Although I am based at the Sidcup Branch I am out on the road most of the time seeing businesses at their place of work.

I look after a portfolio of around 120 customers who are mainly located in the Sidcup and Orpington area.

My aim is to build and maintain long term business relationships with both existing and new business customers by providing support and advise to them with regards to their banking needs.

This could range from explaining the various tools and products available to them to helping them access finance for their business.

I am keen to increase the profile of Sidcup Town centre and support the local businesses in the high street with various Barclays events that can give businesses advise and support on various topics to help their individual businesses thrive and grow

Being part of Sidcup Partners gives me an opportunity to do this and to also know first hand what is happening in the town and to see where I can support from a Bank prospective.

Jess Edwards is the Pub Manager of the Tailors Chalk, right in the centre of Sidcup High Street. Jess has been the PM since January 2016 and worked as a Duty Manager at other local Wetherspoon pubs for the past 15 years. The pub prides themselves on being at the heart of the community and a friendly place for everyone, including families. We hold monthly charity events at the pub, including a quiz night and darts night and have raised over £2,500 in the last 9 months for CLIC Sargent, a charity which helps young people with cancer. Several of my team are students at the local Arts and Performance colleges and we recently joined up with our sister pub in Welling, The New Cross Turnpike to put on a Night of Variety, raising over £1,000 for CLIC Sargent.

The pub is a welcome place from breakfast at 8am until last orders, and is often the first port of call for those staying in the local hotels. Jess and the team are proud of Sidcup and always love to tell visitors of all the wonderful things that make Sidcup unique.
