Waiving its fees for road closures

The Council is helping with requests for parties free of charge and party organisers will not be charged the fees relating to the legal duties and signage required for road closures.

Council officers review each application to ensure they are safe and meet all legal requirements.

The street parties may take place on a single day between the hours of 9am to 9pm on either Saturday 6, Sunday 7, or Monday 8 May.

Residents must first express their interest in holding a street party by completing an online form by Tuesday 31 January. The Council will consider suitability and any conflict with other events before inviting applicants to complete a second-stage application.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Baroness Teresa O’Neill of Bexley OBE, said:

“I am pleased we can waive the fees for all the dedicated and passionate party organisers in Bexley, who I am sure will help make truly unforgettable celebrations in their neighbourhoods. Having come through a tough winter, I am sure it will be uplifting for many to have the opportunity to plan dates in our diaries that we can all look forward to.”

The Coronation Ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
